One-on-One Parent Coaching
As your parenting coach, I formulate individual strategies to enhance your relationship with your child and help you manage stress and overwhelm. I work with you to practice skills that help you connect and positively engage with your child. You will leave our sessions with skills to manage emotional or behavioral concerns you have with your child. We work together to break each solution down into actions that you feel are manageable.
As a former parenting researcher, I rely solely on tools and strategies that are informed by the best available evidence. I have delivered parent coaching groups, workshops, and one-on-one sessions to parents, including those who have children with neurodiversity.
I have also written peer-reviewed research articles, toolkits, and a book chapter on parenting and family support strategies for government and nonprofit organizations, including the World Health Organization and Save the Children. My coaching focuses primarily on motivating positive action, boundary setting, focus-shifting, effective communication, mindfulness, building habits that enhance coping, and emotional regulation.

Tackling Tantrums and Swearing
My seven-year-old’s melt downs were out of control, and recently, he started using swear words he picked up somewhere. I felt embarrassed and helpless, unsure of how to address these behaviors. Working with Lauren was a game-changer. Dr Hodge provided me with practical strategies to calm my child during tantrums and effective ways to address and reduce the use of swear words. As my teenager became more immersed in social media and screen time, I noticed it was affecting his mood, sleep, and school performance. I felt lost in setting boundaries without causing constant conflict and in knowing how to set boundaries when all the other kids have social media and cell phones too. Working with Lauren gave us insight on managing screen time and fostering healthier social media habits. She helped me set clear, reasonable limits and encouraged open discussions about online safety and responsible use. With her support, my son now has a balanced routine, and our relationship has improved as we navigate these challenges together.
